Improvement – Need of A Process
We want to improve in all aspects of our life. It is natural to all of us. If we have to improve in any area we need to know where we are today and where we want be in a period of time. In other words we need to know the gap between where we are and where we want be . Hence unless we measure we will not know where we are and decide where we want to be .

Keeping this in mind let us go through the following :

• What is not Measured is not improved
• What cannot be Measured Cannot be Improved
• Hence measurement is mandatory.
• Measurement is mostly in the form of “Efficiency” and “Effectiveness”
• Efficiency is Input output Ratio
• Effectiveness is Right First Time
• Both Efficiency & Effectiveness can be measured only if there is process
detailing out resources in the form of Men, Material,Time Etc along
with sequence of execution.
• In other words we need to have a standardised Process for any activity

The above gives out the need of a “Process” if we want to improve.
